Inlays and Onlays
These can be used to repair a broken tooth where the damage is too large or the forces too great for a filling.
An inlay or onlay is a precision cast filling made in a laboratory which is then cemented into place by your dentist. They are stronger and more durable than other filling materials and are prepared in a similar way to crowns.
They have the advantage of less tooth tissue removal to preserve more of the existing tooth, creating a highly aesthetic and natural appearance.
Ideal where sufficient healthy tooth tissue remains, but a large filling is required in a tooth under greater force or pressure from your “bite”.
Whilst your inlay is being prepared at the laboratory you will be fitted with a temporary filling until your final fitting appointment.
This procedure requires 2 appointments 2 weeks apart to allow for the inlay or onlay to be made for you.
